Sienna Wessels

Hi! My name is Sienna and I am a 2023 IB graduate from Redlands. I chose the IB because I liked the variety of subjects and the breadth of topics the syllabus covered, even if it felt immensely overwhelming at the time. During those two years, I found myself drawn towards Physics and Chemistry — it's pretty cool getting to understand the deeper intricacies of how and why things actually work, and having your perspective shift when you look at the world around you (also, space is just really cool).

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Science at the University of Sydney, majoring in Physics and Chemistry. I enjoy working through concepts that don't quite make sense at first and sticking with them until they do. Science can be pretty wacky sometimes, and I know it really helps to have someone to go through things step by step and face the insanity with.

Having been through the IB myself, I know it has its fair share of ups and downs (and quite a few moments where nothing seems to make sense at all). Tutoring, to me, feels a bit like helping my past self — passing on the ways I eventually figured things out, or at least making it seem less painful.

Outside of academics, I enjoy skiing and snowboarding and work as an instructor during the winter season, both locally and overseas. In my free time, I play guitar, read quite a lot, enjoy gaming, and like experimenting with coding and small electronics projects.
