Sergei Malygin

Hi! I'm Sergei, and I graduated from SJII in Singapore. I undertook the IB, studying HL Maths AA, Chemistry and Economics, and SL Business Management, English Lang & Lit, and Chinese. My favourite subjects in Year 12 were Chemistry and Maths, and I hope to pass on my passion and knowledge through tutoring.

I am currently studying a double degree in Finance and Computer Science at the University of Sydney.

Throughout my life, teachers and tutors have had a profound impact on me, and I see tutoring as my opportunity to give back by providing students with the same support and encouragement that made such a positive impact on my own education. I find it incredibly rewarding to help students understand concepts that once seemed difficult and to see the confidence that comes with that understanding.

My tutoring approach centres around tailored tutoring for each student, aimed at developing a genuine understanding and engagement with the content while building essential exam skills. Although this approach may require more effort initially, it enables students to build strong conceptual foundations, retain knowledge more effectively, and apply what they have learned with confidence. I also believe in having clear short-term goals, as students can often feel overwhelmed when preparing for exams.

Outside of school, my hobbies include soccer, muay thai and programming, and I enjoy watching soccer and F1.
